Womens event this Friday night. Bring a dessert to share they say.
Thanks to Pinterest I have 295 contenders begging to be made.
I didn't want to make any of them,
I'm tired on Fridays!
What's a girl to do?!
Fun fact about me: I love cinnamon. Cinnamon rolls, cinnamon oatmeal, cinnamon pancakes, anything cinnamon! Another fun fact?! I watched on Dr. Oz that cinnamon is great for you and also boost your metabolism. Maybe that's a good thing since the cinnamon intake I get comes from breads and pastries! I can't stop. I won't stop.
My favorite stop to fill my craving? Of all places, Taco Bell's cinnamon twist! Light, crunchy, and just enough sweet! Hey, for 99 cents, what's not to love?!
One day I'm working and gushing about my love for cinnamon twist. My client, who is an employee of Taco Bell says, "you know they are just rotini noodles deep fried". What?! Shut up. Stop.
So of course, I had to research. Behold!!

I just throw a noodle in the deep fryer and it puffs up into a delicious and decadent dessert!?
Here's the tricky part. Some reviews say this only works with a completely rice based noodle. Those are hard to come by! Most noodles contain some form of wheat. The gluten free ones aren't completely rice based either. I searched Walmart, Target, Trader Joe's, IGA, and Kroger.
I didn't go on an all out hunt. Come on, they are 99 cents.
I did find one package that I thought would work,it didn't contain wheat, but it also wasn't 100% rice based. Bought some peanut based oil (reviewers said other oils would burn), and dug out the good ole' deep fryer. It's tucked away only to be brought out for when my husband brings home catfish! Long story short. It didn't work. Just ended up with a hard rotini noodle.
Taco Bell's website says the cinnamon twist are "puffed corn twist". Soooo corn? rice? who knows! What I do know is that I enjoy them oh so much and I needed a quick dessert to bring.
I grabbed a bowl and 10 min before I had to be at the event I drove through Taco Bell's drive-thru and ordered 6 packs of cinnamon twist. Yes, they looked at me strangely. Opened the bag in the parking lot, threw them in the bowl, and done! ....I did forget to bring plastic wrap for the top.

$5.98! Who needs to make them anyway?! Actually, I will probably keep trying just in case a craving hits... and I am 15 miles away from the nearest Taco Bell :)
