The Wet Brush
Ok, so i've wanted this brush ever since Kendall Jenner posted it on Instagram 6 weeks ago. I'm a sucker for social media advertisement. Insert shame here. Insert more shame for following her on Instagram. I just bought it 3 days ago... so technically it hasn't rocked my entire summer but in these 3 days it has made up for the entire summer. The brush is only $8.99, but when I went on their website I was overwhelmed with the different options. Plus, I hated paying shipping so I never ordered it. However, every time I brushed my hair I thought about wanting it!
I lost my brush like 6 months ago and resorted to brushing my hair with my husbands comb. I feel like I have to brush 4 times a day! The comb has half its teeth missing from ripping through my tangly thick hair! I would take a picture of the comb but Chris threw it away after wanting me to explain, "how in the world my hair could do such damage to his comb". The comb rips through my hair and breaks off ends all over my counter....and I wonder why I have dead ends. I hate cleaning up hair. Even if it is mine.
Wellllll, to my surprise I happened to notice it on Targets shelf!!! Whooohoo a little victory dance! I grabbed it like a ninja. At first, I was taken back by how light the package was. It felt like a cheap brush you would buy at the dollar store. Well, technically it is a cheap brush. I almost bought the more expensive brush in better packaging next to it. I thought about it, but didn't go with the other one placing my trust in all the reviews. I am SOOO GLAD I did! Wow!
This light little brush has changed my life. That may be a little dramatic. It's changed a portion of my life. I can brush my hair wet or dry and it slides right through. I can feel it going through tangles but it doesn't rip or hurt. At all. Maybe my hair will grow fast now?! I actually haven't had to brush it but once or twice a day now. Even my <<super curly crazy dreadlock headed drama filled daughter>> ate a popsicle and never flinched as I brushed her hair. Ya'll don't even know what I have to go through most of the time to get the tangles out of her hair. It usually involves me sitting on top of her while she screams. She screams when she even sees a brush coming her direction (she also screams when she sees flies, ants, spiders, crumbs on the floor, the monster from Frozen.....). The fight over trying to get her hair out of dreads is the reason she looks like a wild child most of the time.
If you have tangly hair, just buy this brush. You can always return it :) There are more options online as well. I just have the original.
2. Taste of Home- Quick & Light magazine
I'm all about Pinterest. Who needs cookbooks any more?! I have millions of recipes all located in one spot cleanly. No cabinet space taken up. I even have a board for "dinner this week" to make my life more organized. Pinterest, you're the reason every meal I've cooked the last 3 years has been terrible. You and your lies. Those gorgeous pictures and captions saying, "every time I take this to a party people are dying to know the recipe". Liars.
I grabbed this at the checkout line at Tractor Supply (rewarding my son with a new tractor for being so good while I made him shop 2 hours). I almost had a stroke when the total for the magazine was $9.99! Good thing I had flipped through it in line and was dying to make the fajitas, so I had to buy it.
It has come SO in handy the past 3 weeks!!! All the meals are pretty clean eating and healthy. Also, super fast which is nice. I've made a couple substitutions here and there but nothing major. Each week I've just flipped through the magazine and picked out breakfast, lunch, and dinners. Grocery bill has went down. $80 for 7 breakfast, 5 dinners, and 4 lunches for 2 people. For the week i've turned the corners of the pages to mark the menu. It really helped when I was running late and I could call my husband to open the magazine and grab all the ingredients to start cooking.
Anyway, the main thing is everything has been really tasty! The nutritional facts are broken down for each meal. Usually Taste of Home has a lot of things I don't normally make....but if I see another 'Quick and Light' one I'll probably be buying it. After I close my eyes and hand over my debit card.
